Michigan football's 2027 recruiting class has made tremendous strides in recent weeks. The Wolverines have landed five commitments in the past seven days and don't seem close to done.

Another blue-chip prospect, one ranked in the top-125 overall, out of the Chicago area, Notre Dame's backyard, is expected to commit later this week.

Tavares Harrington is expected to be the new commitment to join the class as part of Michigan's recruiting heater under first-year head coach Kyle Whittingham.

Michigan isn't satisfied, though. Not even close. The Wolverines are still working to add other prospects to the class, including one of the fastest-rising players in the Midwest.

Whittingham's staff still has its sights set on a pair of five-star targets, too: Joshua Dobson and in-state wide receiver Dakota Guerrant.

Dobson just visited Michigan football for the first time. He soon followed that up by canceling his visit to LSU in favor of another trip to Ann Arbor. If that wasn't encouraging enough, Dobson talked about how he trusts Whittingham to win the Wolverines.

What's even better than that for Michigan football fans is that the Wolverines met with Dobson on Wednesday night in North Carolina. according to Ethan McDowell of The Wolverine.

Michigan continues to exert a ton of effort in this recruitment. As a staff, that's all you can do, and Dobson is certainly responding. Texas A&M, South Carolina, and Auburn are all in the mix, but LSU was the favorite, according to the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine. Now, that's up in the air.

A decision isn't expected until after official visits, but the Michigan football coaching staff has done a great job with this recruitment. The Wolverines went from outside the top five, to a top contender in what feels like just a few weeks.

Michgan keeps up full-court press with 5-star recruits

On another front, the in-state front, Dakota Guerrant is a five-star prospect via 247 Sports. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder has been projected to Oregon. Yet, Michigan is doing all it can to keep the talented wideout home, which includes an in-person visit last week.

Michigan coaches have been putting on a full-court press to land the in-state prospect, who is the top-ranked in-state recruit in the 2027 class. That full-court press now applies to Dobson, and if Michigan could land one or both five-star prospects, it would take an incredibly impressive class and take it over the top.
