Michigan football got some really good news earlier on Monday when it was revealed that top-100 wideout Quentin Burrell would announce his commitment on Wednesday

Burrell, who is from the Chicago area, has been trending with projections to commit to Kyle Whittingham and the Wolverines. Not long ago, it felt like Notre Dame was the leader.

Now, Michigan is on the verge of another major recruiting win for Kyle Whittingham. Burrell would be the fourth top-150 overall commitment of the class since Whittingham took over.

Another could follow in short order, too.

Michigan trending for a four-star defender from Notre Dame's backyard

Four-star defensive back Tavares Harrington just released his top five, which included Michigan, Ole Miss, Alabama, and others. Notre Dame was one of the programs in the mix. Not long ago, as with Burrell, the Fighting Irish felt like the clear favorite.

Yet, the recruitment of Harrington, who is also out of the Chicago area, seems to be going the same way. At 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, Harrington is ranked No. 124 overall according to the 247 Rivals Industry Rankings.

Just like Burrell, Harrington is set to announce a commitment later this month. May 22nd is when he will decide between his finalists, which now seems to include Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Ole Miss.

However, in another bit of encouraging news for fans of Michigan football recruiting, is that Steve Wiltfong has put in an expert projection for the 4-star defensive back to become a Wolverine.

Greg Smith and Allen Trieu of Rivals have also followed suit. They each expect Harrington to become a Wolverine. The versatile defensive back will fill a key need. He can play safety, nickel, or even cornerback. He's also from Notre Dame's backyard, just like Burrell.

That's impressive on the part of Whittingham and encouraging on the side of Michigan football fans.
