Michigan football recruiting is on a heater right now. The Wolverines are trending for several blue-chip commitments, and that momentum doesn't seem to be dying down anytime soon.

In the next two weeks, three more recruits, all ranked in the top 210 overall of the Rivals Industry Rankings, are expected to commit to Michigan football, at least based on recent expert projections.

They would include some significant recruiting victories. Michigan has been trending for top-100 wideout Quentin Burrell, as well as dynamic defensive back Tavares Harrington.

Yet, Kyle Whittingham's staff has a real shot to make waves in the 2027 recruiting class with five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, who continues to express that the Wolverines are a real factor in his recruitment, even if some don't want to believe it.

Out of Cornielus, North Carolina, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback is ranked ninth overall in the 2027 class, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. He's the third-ranked cornerback, and would be a perfect fit in the Wolverines' new defensive system, which has allowed defensive backs to shine.

No college football team had more interceptions than BYU over the past two seasons. That's where Jay Hill was before agreeing to run Whittingham's defense for the Wolverines. So that should be a selling point.

Michigan has another selling point, too. One that has nothing to do with football.

Michigan's academic success could be a secret weapon with 5-star recruit

Dobson recently took an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor to get his first look at the Michigan football program, and was blown away. The Wolverine.com posted on X that Dobson doesn't know why people aren't talking about Michigan more in his recruitment.

It's a good question. Ethan McDowell, who writes for The Wolverine, reports that Michigan will "definitely" get an official visit.

"My mom's an educator, so everything about Michigan, my mom just loves it," Dobson told McDowell.

It's never a bad thing when mom loves the school. That doesn't always lead to a commitment, though. You have to be able to recruit the player, too, although Whittingham and Michigan seem to be going a pretty good job on that front.

As of right now, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Auburn, and LSU are scheduled to get official visits. Dobson said Michigan will get one, although South Carolina has the coveted June 19th date locked up, which is Victors Weekend, when a bunch of major targets will be on campus.

Getting Dobson in for a visit then would be huge. If that does indeed happen, maybe Michigan will start getting the attention it deserves in this recruitment.
