Michigan football has been stockpiling blue-chip commitments over the past two months, but the Wolverines aren't satisfied.
Kyle Whittingham's coaching staff is looking for more. There are some positive trends with four-star offensive lineman Lincoln Mageo, a top priority out of California. He was just projected to the Wolverines, while another official visitor this weekend was recently projected to Georgia.
That's four-star defensive lineman Seth Tillman, one of the top priorities left on the board for Michigan football in the 2027 recruiting class.
Georgia projected to land a Michigan football official visitor
The 6-foot-2, 294-pound defensive tackle from Rock Hill, South Carolina, is ranked No. 123 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Most 300-pounders aren't known as dynamic pass rushers, but Tillman has 24 sacks over the past two seasons, to go along with 137 total tackles and 52 tackles for loss. That's someone who was living in opponents backfield.
Whittingham has always been a head coach who values being able to dominate in the trenches. Landing a player like Tillman, wth Xaiver Muhammad in the fold, would be massive, especially considering the strong D-line haul in the 2026 recruiting class.
After Steve Witflong, a top recruiting expert for Rivals, projected Tillman to Georgia earlier this week, there was a question about whether Tillman would make it to Ann Arbor. According to Ethan McDowell of The Wolverine, Tillman has made it for his official visit.
It felt like Michigan football was fading in this recruitment. The Wolverines weren't expected to get an official visit this weekend, so this a positive development.
We'll see where things go from here. Michigan has been very good at closing. That's why the Wolverines were able to land so many commitments in May, April, and June.
The Wolverines have landed a few surprising commitments, surprising mostly based on the timing. This would qualify, although we did predict a commitment before official visit season started.
Georgia seized the momentum. That led to Wilftong's prediction. It hasn't led to a commitment, and if it was going to, at least anytime soon, you wouldn't think Tillman would be visiting Michigan.
Whether Michigan can beat out Clemson, Georgia, and the other contenders remains to be seen. But Michigan is off the mat. The Wolverines have a puncher's chance to win this recruitment when it felt like they were dead in the water just a few days ago.
