Michigan football is doing everything it possibly can to land the commitment of five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, which includes calling on former world champion, Floyd 'Money' Mayweather.
Dobson, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback ranked 11th overall in the 2027 class, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, was in Ann Arbor this weekend, on an official visit.
Dobson just completed a visit to Texas A&M. He also took an official visit to Auburn. However, after a visit to Michigan earlier this spring, the Wolverines came into the visit as a clear contender for his commitment, something that was solidified this weekend with a really strong visit, at least from the U-M perspective.
Dobson told Steve Wiltfong of Rivals that Michigan is building something "special." He also said that his official visit to see the Wolverines was "wonderful."
Dobson connected with some major boosters, and also with Mayweather, the 50-0 former world champ, who is making a return to the ring soon. The Grand Rapids native had a simple message for Dobson: "Come to Michigan so I can watch you play," via Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider.

Michigan football is trending up with 5-star cornerback Joshua Dobson
The Wolverines were on the rise in this recruitment, even before the official visit. Dobson canceled a visit to LSU in order to visit Michigan. That was a positive sign. He also left College Station withiout a commitment, and the Aggies seem to have lost the momentum they once had.
Michigan has it, the question is, can the Wolverines keep it?
There haven't been any expert projections in favor of Michigan football just yet. Head coach Kyle Whitingham has developed a strong relationship with Dobson, to the point that the five-star cornerback seems fully sold on U-M's new head coach.
Dobson's mom seems really high on Michigan, too. That doesn't always matter in the end, but it can make a big difference. The elite defensive back from Cornelius, North Carolina, is taking an official visit to South Carolina this weekend.
If Michigan football can maintain this momentum through that visit, Whittingham may be able to land his first five-star commitment for Michigan, which would be impressive considering he was hired late in the process and started this recruiting class well behind the 8-ball.
The Wolverines have 16 commitments total. 12 of them are blue-chip prospects, with another expected soon. Maybe Dobson will be expected to commit, soon, too.
