Michigan football fans have plenty of reasons to be excited about Bryce Underwood. Every player and coach who's interviewed gushes about the kid.
It's hard not to. Underwood has unbelievable talent. However, he was also praised by offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey for his business-like approach.
Underwood is "trending" to be the Michigan football starting quarterback next season, especially since Mikey Keene hasn't been seen yet this spring, probably due to injury.
The five-star freshman has been turning heads since he stepped on campus, and that has continued this spring. Count defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny among those who are impressed and not just with the throwing ability of Underwood, the 6-foot-4 quarterback.
Bryce Underwood has been making "crazy throws" during Michigan football spring ball
"He's made some crazy throws," Benny said via Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider. "He's going to be good. He's fast...a little faster than I thought."
The speed of Underwood is something that's often overlooked. Not only does he have an incredible arm, both in terms of accuracy and strength, he's also a freak athlete for someone 6-foot-4, 208 pounds.
There's a reason that scouts have compared him to Cam Newton and Vince Young, two of the best dual-threat quarterbacks of all time. Underwood is a dual-threat quarterback. He also just happens to have the arm talent of a No. 1 overall pick, so "crazy" seems like an apt word to use.
Michigan football fans will get Underwood with their own eyes soon during the spring game. Of course, it will be tape-delayed on television, so unless you're able to make it to the Big House for the spring game, you'll have to wait to see what Underwood can do, although there will certainly be highlights circulating.
But after everything said so far, I know I can't wait. The future is so bright its blinding for Michigan football and that's all because of Bryce Underwood.
