It's starting to look more and more like Michigan football will have true freshman Bryce Underwood as the starting quarterback for the 2025 season opener, at least according to a report from Pete Nakos of On3.com.

In an excerpt posted on X, Nakos wrote that Underwood is trending to be the starter for Michigan football, which shouldn't surprise anyone at this point.

Players and coaches have given rave reviews to Underwood so far this season. Derrick Moore, the talented Michigan football defensive end said that Underwood was "throwing dots" all over the place and praised the freshman quarterback as many others have done.

Fresno State transfer Mikey Keene was expected to compete for the job and still is. However, according to Nakos, he hasn't taken part in spring ball yet, and it's not clear when he will. There hasn't been a reason for Keene's absence, such as an injury, so who knows?

What we do know is that Underwood is turning heads. The five-star freshman quarterback has all the tools to quite possibly be the greatest quarterback in Michigan football history. Underwood has talked about how his goals are to win the Heisman Trophy and a national championship.

Hell, he's even been compared to Cam Newton and Vince Young. On3 rated him as the best quarterback recruit of the past five years, even better than Arch Manning.

Jadyn Davis has played well and "balled out" according to running back Jordan Marshall, who praised both Michigan football quarterbacks earlier this week. Yet, as time goes on, and Underwood continues to impress, it feels more and more like this will be his job on day one.
