Momentum matters on the recruiting trail. Just ask the Michigan football program.
That momentum has been steadily building in Ann Arbor in recent weeks. It started with the Wolverines flipping former Illinois commitment Kamden Lopati.
That felt like the first major commitment for Michigan football head coach Kyle Whittingham. Since then, the Wolverines haven't slowed down.
Four-star offensive tackle Jakari Lipsey, the third-ranked player in the state of Michigan in the 2027 class, pledged to the Wolverines last week. He's ranked No. 105 overall. Lopati is ranked in the top 150.
This week, Michigan has started trending for more commitments. Quentin Burrell, a top-100 wideout started trending with expert projections to the Wolverines, and on Saturday, defensive line coach Larry Black teased a commitment with a post on X.
Black, the defensive tackles coach, posted a graphic that says "Bleed Blue" and also captioned it, "high level cat."
Michigan football could land 4-star EDGE soon
Most of the recent expert trends have been in favor of Michigan landing some talent on the offensive side of the ball. The only defensive lineman who has been projected to the Wolverines recently is four-star EDGE Jayce Brewer.
Brewer is 6-foot-5, 225 pounds. He's ranked No. 361 overall, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. Notre Dame and Ohio State are among the other teams in the mix.
Michigan is the only school scheduled to receive an official visit as of now. Purdue is also in the mix, as some of the other programs that offered haven't been pushing as hard. Michigan is also making a strong push, so strong it might have landed a commitment.
