It's not really a secret that Michigan football is looking to upgrade its wide receiver position in the spring transfer portal window.

The Wolverines have already offered a wideout in the transfer portal. There probably won't be a ton of options, but another really interesting player just entered the portal, Stanford's Emmett Mosley.

Stanford just fired its head coach, which opened a 30-day window for players to enter the transfer portal. So Mosley isn't even tied to the spring window. Yet, he would be a perfect fit for Michigan football for a few different reasons.

Why Michigan football should target Emmett Mosley

For one, the Wolverines need more playmakers. Mosley is heading into his sophomore season but stood out as a freshman for the Cardinal with 48 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns last season.

Against Louisville, Mosley caught 13 passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a 62-yard reception. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder also went over 100 yards against San Jose State in addition to six receptions against Cal.

There were four games last season in which he had at least one reception of 20 yards, which would fit perfectly with what the Wolverines are hoping to do. Chip Lindsey wants the offense to be more explosive. Donaven McCulley, another transfer wide receiver currently on the Michigan football team, said the Wolverines are going to throw more.

That's not surprising, especially with Bryce Underwood expected to be the starting quarterback. More wide receiver talent is needed, though, and Mosley would fit the bill. Michigan is a strong academic school just like Stanford, and as a sophomore-to-be, there wouldn't be any issues with credits transferring.

Michigan didn't offer him as a high school recruit, but the Wolverines should target him now. He'd be a perfect fit. Fred Moore, McCulley, and Semaj Morgan are some of the top options right now. Yet, Mosley would add to an exciting nucleus of young wideouts, while also bringing proven production.
