It's honestly hard to know what to believe when it comes to the effort by Michigan football to flip five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood in the 2025 class.

Underwood isn't just a five-star quarterback. He's the No. 1 quarterback in his class. Underwood is ranked No. 1 overall and would be a program-changing commitment.

However, he's been committed to LSU since January. Michigan football was in the mix but it felt like the NIL game wasn't on par with the Tigers. LSU also throws the ball more.

Some have suggested a flip could happen any day. Others have poured cold water on it, even Underwood himself.

Yet, Josh Henschke of the Maize and Blue Review (Rivals) addressed the rumors on Wednesday, saying it was a "fact" that Michigan football, led by Sherrone Moore, is making a push to flip Underwood, who is from Belleville, Michigan.

Here are some of the "facts" surrounding the situation according to Henschke.

"Sherrone has spearheaded a serious push for Bryce Underwood. FACT. Bryce Underwood has been receptive to the advances. FACT.- Some in the recruiting circles report that Bryce is legitimately “torn” on what to do next. FACT. - Michigan has significant support for NIL moves like this, and others, moving forward. FACT."

The NIL thing is significant to me because that will have positive impacts down the road for Michigan football beyond Underwood. Dave Portnoy said after the loss to Illinois that he is "working on it" and he's offered big money for a quarterback.

He talked about it being from the portal but Underwood would be better than that. He could push for playing time right away and bring an elite talent to the QB room with three years to play before he would be eligible for the NFL draft.

There have been hints, but those could be coming from the Michigan side of things. I'll believe it when I see it happen, but at least the Wolverines are trying. That's encouraging.
