There has been a lot of buzz about Michigan football making a run at five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, who is the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound quarterback is from Belleville, Michigan. He's been committed to LSU since January. Mchigan football was one of the top contenders during his recruitment but it was pretty clear that the Wolverines didn't have a competitive NIL package.

It feels like that has changed. Dave Portnoy said after the loss on Saturday that he was "working" on it. He previously pledged up to $3 million for a transfer portal quarterback. Yet, paying for a five-star like Underwood, who could be on the team for three years, feels like a better investment.

The two things might have nothing to do with the other, but if Portnoy is willing to pay, Michigan football happy allow him to give money to big-time recruits.

They don't get any bigger than Underwood. The quarterback reacted to an LSU podcast discussing it and it made it feel like it wasn't realistic.

Michigan appears to be making a run at Bryce Underwood

Yet, Adam Gorney of Rivals reported on Tuesday that Michigan football is making a run at Underwood. He said it's "real" and that it's "going to be interesting."

Adding Underwood would completely change the feeling of the 2025 Michigan football team. Yet, Underwood hasn't visited recently and Moore hasn't visited him either. At least according to what we know.

So it's hard to get your hopes up, but maybe it's not as crazy as some of us once believed.
