If you're a Michigan football fan, you probably know about the Wolverine fandom of Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports.

Portnoy has been a great follow for Michigan football fans over the past few years, whether it was trolling Ohio State fans or farting in the face of one after winning "The Game" in 2023, trolling just about everyone when it comes to Connor Stalions, or betting $1 million on Michigan football to beat Alabama in the College Football Playoff and winning, Portnoy is nothing if not entertaining.

However, as far as his Michigan football fandom is concerned, Portnoy is willing to put his money where his mouth is.

Dave Portnoy pledges NIL money for Michigan football to get a QB

So far, the defense of Michigan's 2023 national championship has been an adventure. We shouldn't have expected smooth sailing with a new quarterback and Jim Harbaugh coaching the Chargers, but the defense is dominant. The running game is damn good too, winning the game last week with 290 yards on the ground, despite only 32 through the air.

Things have gotten so bad, that Urban Meyer says Michigan football has to play two quarterbacks -- because you can't with if you can't throw the ball at all.

We'll see I guess but last week felt like fool's good. At least for the offense. I don't know how sustainable that is and other Big Ten teams will tackle better than USC. Yet, the quarterback position is what it is this season -- a mess.

However, Portnoy, who said "Michigan football doesn't have a quarterback" pledged up to $3 million in NIL funds for the Wolverines to land a quarterback in the transfer portal. Portnoy said he would "put them on the payroll" at Barstool and the fact is, it would be 100 percent legal.

I'm not sure if the program would embrace it. The Wolverines believe in their young talent but it's hard to see Jadyn Davis being ready to start next season and with some key defenders set to leave for the NFL, landing an elite quarterback in the transfer portal might be a good way to offset that.

"I will go out and get Michigan a top-10 QB every year," Portnoy said. Hopefully, the University of Michigan will allow it to happen.
