Momentum is a tangible thing in recruiting and Michigan football is starting to build it.
The Wolverines landed two commitments last week, from tight ends Matt Ludwig and Mason Bonner -- two talented pass catchers.
Michigan football has been building on that momentum since. The Wolverines haven't landed any commitments, but they have made the final cut for a slew of blue-chip prospects, which includes four-star cornerback Dorian Barney, who released a top four that included Michigan football, as well as Penn State, Texas A&M, and Georgia Tech.
Barney will also announce his commitment on July 5th. At 6-foot-1, 180 pounds out of Carrollton, Georgia, the four-star is ranked No. 149 overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, and is also ranked 14th among cornerbacks.
The Wolverines are set to get the final official visit.
Another official visitor confirmed for this weekend is four-star defensive lineman Damari Simeon, a 6-foot-3, 275-pounder out of St. Augustine Prep in Richland, New Jersey.
Michigan football recently made the cut in Simeon's final four along with Ohio State, Penn State, and Texas. Simeon is ranked No. 202 overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He will also take an official visit to Michigan this weekend,

Simeon adds to an impressive list of visitors this weekend, which includes four-star Auburn linebacker commitment Shadarius Toodle. The Wolverines have been working on flipping the four-star recruit, and this weekend will be vital in that effort.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound linebacker out of Mobile, Alabama, is ranked No. 168 overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He's also got official visits with North Carolina, Baylor, Florida, and Auburn.
So the Wolverines aren't the only team pushing for a flip. Toodle visited Michigan this spring and we'll see what kind of momentum the Wolverines can build this weekend.
