You can feel Michigan football starting to build some momentum on the recruiting trail as we head into official visit season.
The Wolverines recently made the top group with two of their top targets in the 2026 class, defensive lineman Titan Davis, and also offensive tackle Malakai Lee out of Hawaii.
Michigan is battling some elite competition for both recruits. That's also true of a pair of 2026 targets -- Carter Scruggs (OT) and Nick Abrams (LB) -- who each included the Wolverines in their group of finalists over the weekend.
Abrams, is 6-foot-2, 215 pounds out of Maryland. He's ranked as the No. 250 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He posted a picture on social media with four hats on a table, indicating his final group.
Michigan football was one of the programs in the final four, along with Georgia, Oregon, and Alabama. He will take an official visit to Michigan on June 6th. Oregon, Alabama, and Georgia got official visits, too, but the Wolverines might have the slight edge going into June with a commitment date looming on July 16th.
Michigan football "locked in a tight race" for 4-star OL Carter Scruggs
The Wolverines also made the top five over the weekend in the recruitment of four-star offensive tackle Carter Scruggs, who is ranked 194th overall in the 2026 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Out of Leesburg, Virginia, the 6-foot-6, 270-pound offensive tackle narrowed his recruitment down to Michigan football, Georgia, Penn State, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Virginia Tech.
Michigan, Clemson, Georgia, and Penn State have official visits set in what Scruggs described to Chad Simmons of On3.com as a "really tight race."
The Wolverines could use an elite linebacker like Abrams in the 2026 class. A blue-chip tackle would also be a nice addition and these are two top priorities for Michigan football. We'll see if it can close.
