Michigan Wolverines women's basketball head coach Kim Barnes Arico has had a week on the recruiting trail as the Michigan women's basketball team landed the commitment of Jessica Fields on Sunday, the younger sister of former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields.

It's good to see Jessica, who is unranked according to the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2025 class, join the good guys meaning the Michigan Wolverines.

“Michigan was great. Coach Justine [Raterman] got me in contact with them because she was atMarquette, and I’ve been in contact with them for four years,” Fields said about her decision to Talia Goodman of On3.com. “We originally reached out because that’s where my brother was living and we kind of wanted to go to school close to him. When she moved to Michigan, she brought me up to them… I think they were actually one of the last schools to actually give me an offer, but I knew what they had to offer academically and their program has been pretty good. The girls were super nice and we had a little game night, so I got a good feel of the team dynamics and the culture.”

On3 called Fields a highly-recruited prospect. The 6-foot-1 forward also had offers from Clemson, Georgetown, and Northwestern. This is the second commitment in the 2025 class after Michigan women's basketball landed top-50 guard McKenzie Mathurin out of Oklahoma recently.

Michigan football target Andrew Babalola updates recruitment timeline

The Michigan football program landed a commitment on Saturday from four-star cornerback Jayden Sanders. The Michigan Wolverines are still trending in the right direction to land four-star wideout Andrew Marsh, and are still pushing to get five-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola.

Auburn has emerged as a threat in that recruitment, along with Stanford and Oklahoma. Babalola was expected to make a decision "soon" but that was weeks ago. Now, EJ Holland of the Wolverine is reporting that the five-star ranked No. 27 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, will make a decision in early September (6th).
