There have been a couple of surprise visitors reported on Friday, who will be taking official visits to Michigan football.

One of them is a wide receiver committed to Georgia. The other is one of the top defensive prospects in the entire 2026 recruiting class, Davon Benjamin.

The 6-foot, 170-pound defensive back could play cornerback or safety in college. Hell, he could be a wide receiver if he wanted to be.

Benjamin is ranked 36th overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He's ranked fifth at his position.

Oregon has established itself as an early favorite. The Ducks are the crystal ball leader, but Michigan football is a team to watch after an official visit by Benjamin was reported by Chad Simmons of On3.com. The visit will take place this weekend, the first official weekend of the summer.

The Wolverines are listed as "warm" according to 247 Sports along with Oregon, Ohio State, Texas, and Miami.

You can tell just by that group of teams that NIL will be a major factor in this recruitment, but that's not surprising for a dude who runs the 100-meter dash in sub-11 seconds, intercepted six passes last season, but also caught two touchdowns with 404 receiving yards, as well as 464 return yards.

Benjamin is ranked as one of the top players in the 2026 class for a reason, and he's the headliner this weekend for the Michigan Wolverines, even ahead of Georgia commitment Brady Marchese or Auburn commitment Shadarius Toodle.

Christian Ward is another name to know. It feels like there's a strong chance Michigan could secure a commitment with him, but regardless, with Benjamin on campus, things have gotten even more interesting.
