Michigan football landed two commitments in the 2026 recruiting class last week, and others are sure to be on the way soon.

It could start as early as this weekend. The Wolverines have some top targets on campus. That includes an SEC commitment and a long-time flip target. It also includes a recruit who could be the next commitment for Michigan football in the 2026 class.

The Wolverines have been trending up with a number of 2026 targets. They are locked in some tight recruiting battles, but you are seeing Michigan in the mix more and more.

This weekend, the Wolverines are hosting some official visitors and there's a chance that Michigan's next 2026 commitment will be on campus.

Eyeing Michigan's next commitment

Four-star wide receiver Christian Ward (6-3, 185), who is ranked No. 349 overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, will visit this weekend, and it's fair to wonder if Michigan should be on commitment watch after some of his recent comments.

Ward told Ethan McDowell of The Wolverine that he wants to commit, "not long" after his official visit to Ann Arbor. Michigan's wide receiver board is crowded, so it's hard to know if the Wolverines will be pushing for a commitment this weekend.

If they are, though, I wouldn't be surprised if they were successful. Ward doesn't have any other official visits scheduled right now. That could change, but even Chad Simmons of On3.com reported that Michigan is the "team to beat."

We'll see if that leads to a commitment this weekend or soon after. It doesn't feel like Michigan fans will need to wait long, and Christian Ward is a solid candidate to be next.
