Michigan football ended a two-week commitment drought on Thursday, as the Wolverines landed the commitment of four-star EDGE Ifeanyi Emedobi.

Michigan has been trending up with Emedobi in recent weeks. He has taken multiple visits to Ann Arbor recently, which included an official visit.

That came after the Fort Wayne, Indiana, recruit, canceled an official visit with the Indiana Hoosiers, the defending national champions. Penn State, Maryland, and Minnesota have also been lurking in this recruitment, but once Emedobi was on campus for his offiical visit, it felt like a done deal.

Shortly after that visit, Emedobi set a commitment date for Thursday on the Rivals YouTube channel where he officailly became Kyle Whittingham's 13th blue-chip commitment, and the 17th overall in the 2027 recruiting class for the Wolverines.

The announcement went as expected for Michigan football, and here's what the Wolverines are getting in the disruptive pass rusher who has a ton of upside.

What the latest blue-chip commitment means for Michigan football

Despite being ranked No. 402 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, there is a lot to like about the Wolverines newest pass rusher.

Emebodi doesn't have typical height for an EDGE, however, that doesn't always matter. Michigan football fans watched Josaiah Stewart dominate for two seasons. He was listed at 6-foot-2, but was probably closer to 6-foot, or 6-1. That didn't stop him from terrorizing opposing offenses, or helping stuff Alabama on the fourth-and-goal that clinched the Rose Bowl.

Emedobi just has that burst around the edge that's hard to teach. Last season, he dominted in the Hoosier State with 50 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks.

Michigan's strong push reflects their evaluation of Emedobi, who feels like one of the more underrated players in Michigan's class. It's easy to see the blue-chip recruit developing into something at U-M, especially once he can add 20 or 30 pounds of muscle.

Emeobi is listed at around 215 pounds. Michigan will want him in the 240 range, but he adds a second blue-chip commitment at EDGE, as well as a third on the defensive line as a whole.

Michigan's class had dropped to 15th in the 247 Sports team composite rankings. This commitment will move them up. Another four-star pledge is expected from Lincoln Mageo. That's 14 total and Michigan football has more blue-chip visitors on campus this weekend.

So expect more recruiting fireworks soon from the Wolverines.
