Michigan football was projected to land a new 2027 recruit on Tuesday night, but that looks like it might just be the start for the Wolverines.

On Wednesday, Michigan picked up another expert projection, this time to land four-star cornerback Blake Jenkins out of Texas, who is scheduled to announce his commitment on Thursday night.

Michigan projected to beat out Alabama, Texas, and others for blue-chip commitment

Jenkins, who is 6-foot, 160 pounds, out of Katy, Texas, is ranked No. 260 overall in the 2027 class, according to the Rivals Industry rankings. He released a top five on Wednesday that included the Wolverines, along with Alabama, Texas, Vanderbilt, and SMU.

Jenkins also announced a commitment date, which is Thursday. He will announce his decision live on the 247 Sports YouTube Channel.

Michigan didn't seem like the favorite. The Wolverines haven't even had Jenkins on campus, at least according to the Rivals' log of visits; however, two experts have put in projections for the Rivals Recruiting Prediciton Machine in favor of U-M to land Jenkins.

Jenkins is from the same hometown as current Michigan wide receiver Andrew Marsh, so that could be helping the Wolverines in this recruitment. Either way, Michigan has been stellar at closing under Kyle Whittingham.

The Wolverines just landed 11 commitments in May. They have also started trending with predictions to have four-star offensive lineman Lincoln Mageo join the 2027 class, after he just visited Utah.

Texas, Vanderbilt, and Houston have official visits scheduled with Jenkins. along with Michigan on June 19th. Yet, with a commitment on Thursday night, you wonder how many of those visits Jenkins will take?

Last season, the lengthy corner had 26 tackles and two interceptions. He's listed at 6-1.5, 185 pounds, according to 247 Sports, which calls him a "natural man corner" in its scouting report.

Jenkins is ranked 33rd among cornerbacks and 43rd in the state of Texas. He would join four-star Darius Johnson and also four-star Tavares Harrington as cornerback commitments, along with three-star safety Charles Woodson Jr.
