The Michigan football recruiting board for the 2027 class was essentially reset when the new coaching staff was hired.
Kyle Whittingham took over for the disgraced Sherrone Moore. His first priority was retaining the roster, which he did successfully. The Wolverines were able to retain Bryce Underwood, Andrew Marsh, Jordan Marshall, and basically, every starter that entered or was considering entering the portal outside of linebacker Cole Sullivan.
Now, the focus is on the 2027 recruiting class. New offers or re-offers have started to pick up, and the spring visit schedule is getting loaded with visiting recruits.
Speaking of Sullivan, the current staff seems to value linebackers built in that same mold -- versatile, athletic defenders who can cover just as well as they defend against the run. Sullivan wasn't quite Jimmy Rolder against the run, but he's pretty darn good.
And a new target of Alex Whittingham, the new Michigan football linebackers coach, seems to fit that mold. Three-star linebacker Ethan Hauser was recently offered by the Wolverines. He's 6-foot-2, 190 pounds out of Buford, Georgia.
LB Ethan Hauser linebacker to visit Michigan football twice
Hauser, who has 27 total offers, is ranked No. 559 in the 2027 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. The playmaking linebacker has offers from Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, Oregon, USC, Miami, Florida State, Florida, and North Carolina, among others. Watching his highlights, you can see why.

The rangy linebacker has official visits scheduled with Missouri and Vanderbilt. He also has an official visit scheduled with Michigan football (June 19-21 via Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider). The three-star recruit also has a spring visit planned via Ethan McDowell of The Wolverine.
The Wolverines will have to fend off some SEC suitors to win his commitment, but Hauser is a dynamic player who would look great in the Maize and Blue.
