Juke Harris is one of the best players left in the transfer portal. It's just one reason why his recruitment has had so many twists and turns.
The 6-foot-7 wing from Wake Forest, who scored 19 points against Michigan basketball last season, averaging 21.4 points per game, might be the hottest commodity left in the transfer portal.
Michigan basketball seemed like the favorite. Harris visited during the national title celebration, and the Wolverines were projected to land the dynamic guard.
Since then, North Carolina and Tennessee have made strong pushes. At one time, it felt like all three teams could have had the lead at some point, but according to Travis Branham of 247 Sports, Harris is down to two: Michigan and Tennessee.
"They (Michigan) are very much in the hunt for Juke Harris," Branham said. "That one is evolving pretty quickly. As of this morning, it's sounding like his decision will likely come down to Michigan and Tennessee. Both have had him on visits at this point, and it's going to be a fight to the finish."
Michigan basketball still fighting for Juke Harris
Tennessee has added some other pieces from the portal, but nothing that would make you think they have given up on Harris, who would slot perfectly into Yaxel Lendeborg's spot at the three.
Harris isn't an elite defender like Yaxel, but he was fourth in the ACC in defensive rebounds and made 2.5 3-pointers per game on his way to Second-Team All-ACC. He had the seventh-most rebounds in the entire conference, so he would fill the void of Yaxel in more ways than one (scoring, rebounding).
The decision of Harris shouldn't impact 7-foot-2 center Moustapha Thiam, who also visited Michigan basketball on Monday. He would be an Aday Mara replacement, leaving potentially just one void in the lineup, which Harris could fill.
