Michigan football had a ton of recruiting momentum heading into the month of June, after killing it in April and May. Unfortunately, the Wolverines weren't able to capitalize on it.
There have been some solid recruiting wins this month for Kyle Whittingham and the Michigan football program. Frederrick Ford, the four-star linenbacker who committed last week, is chief among them.
However, the Wolverines also missed out on five-star wideout Dakota Guerrant, a key in-state target. He committed to Oregon, as did another blue-chip prospect from Michigan, four-star tight end Anthony Cartwright.
Three-star wide receiver Damani Warren, a 6-foot-4, 205-pounder, also committed to Texas A&M. He would have been a great backup option after missing on Guerrant.
To make things even worse, confidence is fading in the recruitment of five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson. It feels like Texas A&M is going to win out there, with a decision looming on Wednesday.
Another top target, who took an official visit to Michigan this month, four-star defensive lineman, Seth Tillman, is also trending the wrong way in the 2027 recruiting class.
Blue-chip target Seth Tillman projected to Clemson over Michigan football
The 6-foot-5, 300-pound defensive lineman out of Rock Hill, South Carolina, is trending with expert predictions to commit to the Clemson Tigers. He's ranked No. 133 overall in the 2027 class, according to Rivals, and was just projected to commit to the Tigers by Ethan McDowell of The Wolverine.
Clemson and Georgia were each in the mix. Michigan football appeared to seize the momentum on his official visit, but again, the Wolverines weren't able to maintain it, sort of like with Dobson.
Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons, two national recruiting reporters for Rivals, have projected Tillman to commit to the Tigers. With McDowell's prediction, The Tigers now have a 93 percent chance of landing the commitment of Tillman. The crystal balls are pointing to Clemson, too.
According to Rivals, Tillman is expected to announce a commitment on July 11th. That's the same day that four-star offensive lineman Lincoln Mageo will announce his decision. That gives Michigan a couple of weeks to try and turn things around with Tillman.
The Wolverines have Xavier Muhammad committed in the 2027 class. He looks like an elite player up front, but Tillman does, too. He's a dominant pass rusher and would have been great to pair with guys like Carter Meadows and Nate Marshall in the future.
However, Michigan will have to turn things around quickly is that hope is going to become a reality.
