Life is good if you're a Michigan fan, as new head coach Kyle Whittingham can't stop posting recruiting wins. Of late, Michigan added 4-star wide receiver Quentin Burrell to the commitment list, but Whittingham wasn't done there. Nope, not by a long shot.

Former Michigan commit off to play for James Franklin is a blessing in disguise

That's because news just broke that Michigan has also reeled in 4-star defensive lineman Xavier Muhammad, who was also strongly considering Notre Dame and Miami. Hayes Fawcett, per usual, was the one to break the news that has plenty of Michigan fans pretty dang fired up right now:

4-star DL Xavier Muhammad has committed to Michigan in another win for Kyle Whittingham

This is a massive get for Whittingham for several different reasons. At the top of the list has to be that the 6-4, 275-pounder is ranked the No. 9 defensive lineman in the entire country for the 2027 class per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

On top of that, he was north of 20 offers throughout his recruitment. He was a wanted man, but in the end, Muhammad knew he could only pick one school and Michigan's recruiting efforts made the difference here, with Marcus Freeman and Mario Cristobal getting overlooked.

Muhammad is already the fourth commit of the month of May for Whittingham, as Burrell, offensive tackle Jakari Lipsey and pass-rusher Jayce Brewer previously gave the staff their verbals. Overall, Michigan is up to nine known commits for the '27 haul, with that group ranked No. 21 in the country. Muhammad also instantly becomes the third-highest rated player in the Michigan class.

From the moment Whittingham took over, he's been posting some head-turning moves out on the recruiting trail and this latest development from Muhammad only makes things better. So, who could end up being next for the Wolverines?

With the way Whittingham has been able to recruit this spring, we shouldn't have to wait too long for another pledge to come in. Keep in mind that official visits are about to get going again, with some massive weekends on the way for Whittingham and his staff.

For now, there are two visitors for May 29, six for June 5, three for June 12 and 21 visitors (!) for Victors Weekend on June 19. In total, that's 32 official visitors headed to town, which tells us even more big news should be coming for the Wolverines. Before those visits take place, people can go ahead and celebrate Muhammad grabbing a seat at the table, as he'll be a stud for Whittingham and the Michigan defense in the future.
