Former Michigan QB recruit defends Bryce Underwood against ridiculous MSU 'insider'

Trae Taylor came to the defense of Bryce Underwood when a Michigan State insider made a ridiculous claim about his weight.

It's easy to see how jealous rival fans are about the fact that Michigan football signed generational five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood.

All the baseless attacks online are a good indication. They want him to fail, and be a bust, because if Underwood lives up to the hype, Michigan football might be better than ever.

Underwood is the kind of quarterback most college football teams just dream of adding. He's been compared to Vince Young and Cam Newton. He was also ranked higher than Arch Manning coming out of high school.

Rivals attack Bryce Underwood again

Rival fans have taken shots at his weight due to a picture taken out of context. They have also tried to stir up false rumors about a possible transfer, or claim that he hasn't gotten his money from Michigan. It's desperate and pathetic, but not surprising.

The idea that Underwood is overweight is ridiculous. Yet, Brody Sheetz, a Michigan State recruiting "insider" for On3, according to his profile on X, was back at it on Friday, claiming he has sources that say Michigan football was adding transfer QB Jake Garcia due to weight concerns with Underwood.

"I'm told there are growing concerns about Michigan QB Bryce Underwood’s fitness level heading into the season — a factor that pushed the staff to explore options like Jake Garcia. The balance between the weight room and the dining hall just isn’t there yet.”

It feels like this was just rage bait for Michigan fans, or more delusion for Sparty fans, some of which actually believe Sherrone Moore won't be able to coach again (ever) for the Wolverines, due to the NCAA investigation and the fact he deleted texts that were still turned over to the NCAA.

This is to say that a strong portion of the Michigan State fanbase has lost touch with reality. Getting dominated by Michigan and watching the Wolverines win a national title will do that.

That quote Sheetz posted was clearly fake or made up, and former Michigan QB recruit Trae Taylor, who is committed to Nebraska, called him out on it.

"If anyone believes this at all, you should stop being a Michigan fan. Bryce is busting his ass and he is in great shape period. If you knew Bryce at all it’s not even in his DNA to be lazy," Taylor wrote on X.

Ohio State fans are also acting like Michigan has the worst QB room in the country because it is possibly adding Jake Garcia, another veteran, who could serve as a backup to Underwood for the next two seasons.

They want to interpret that as Michigan being worried about Underwood. Nothing could be further from the truth. The kid is a freshman. He'll have bumps and growing pains along the way, but he will be a star and the rival fans can't stand it.
