Michigan football's recruiting heater continued this week with the commitment of four-star cornerback Blake Jenkins.
The talented four-star cornerback committed to Michigan over Alabama, SMU, Texas and Vanderbilt earlier this week. That always leaves fans asking who could be next?
One candidate to be the next commitment for Kyle Whittingham's Michigan football program is four-star offensive lineman Lincoln Mageo, who is in Ann Arbor this weekend for his official visit.
Four-star offensive line target has fans feeling optmistic
Mageo is one of two uncommitted prospects visiting this weekend. Four-star defensive lineman Seth Tillman, a four-star from South Carolina is also on campus.
Mageo is 6-foot-3.5 and 285 pounds. The four-star is ranked No. 386 overall via the Rivals Industry Rankings. Even ahead of his official visit, the expert projections started coming in for Michigan football, much to the chagrin of some Utah fans. The Wolverines have an 83 percent chance to land his commitment via the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine.
It looks like the official visit has only added to Michigan's momentum as Mageo posted "Go Blue" on X, wearing the Wolverines uniform. A commitment isn't expected to be announced until July, but with Washington and Utah as the top threats, Michigan looks like it has sealed the deal.
Things can change quickly in the world of recruiting. A decision is expected to come next month, so you have to hope the Wolverines can keep the momentum until then, but Kyle Whittingham's staff has been excellent at closing, to the point you might wonder if Mageo will bump up his decision date.
Michigan has 16 commitments currently in the 2027 class. 12 of them are ranked as blue-chip prospects (four-star recruits or higher). That's a percentage of 75 percent, which is exactly where you want to be from a roster-building perspective.
The Wolverines have also landed elite players at premium positions with blue-chip commitments at quarterback, running back, tight end, offensive line, defensive line, and in the secondary.
And Michigan football is far from done. Victors Weekend on June 19th is setting up to be a major recruiting weekend. Mageo could be in the class by then. Even if he decides to wait, it feels like it will be hard to pass up the chance to play for Jim Harding, who made some in-person visits to Mageo earlier this spring to help lockdown this recruitment.
Utah made a late push, but Whittingham and Harding feel like they have won this recruitment for the Wolverines, who currently have the 14th-ranked class in 2027.
