Michigan Football: Predicting Wolverines’ 2021 recruiting class
Safety Daymon David
Ultimately, I believe that Michigan will add another defensive back to the 2021 class before things are all said and done. The question is, who will that be?
For a while, it seemed like momentum was gaining with three-star athlete Kamonte Grimes, out of Florida. He’s being recruited as a receiver by most programs, but U-M sees him as a corner, safety or even a viper.
Michigan has been among the leaders from Grimes, yet, there hasn’t been any talk of communication within the past two weeks. There hasn’t been a ton of chatter with Grimes but the Wolverines are a finalist.
Yet, Daymon David is also a key target at safety and Michigan has been really pressing with him. David isn’t ranked in the top 1,000, but his ranking will improve. He’s a hard hitter and while Oklahoma, Miami and Mississippi State are in the mix, it feels like this is coming down to the Sooners and Wolverines.
And if David isn’t able to visit Oklahoma, I think that gives Michigan an edge. He’s close with a few guys at Michigan already, like Osman Savage and the Wolverines have a strong presence in the state of Maryland. David is even a Ravens fan, who has a Harbaugh for a head coach.
Of all the predictions, this is most out on a limb. David feels like the priority, so I’m going with him, but Grimes and Maxwell Hairston, an in-state corner who hasn’t been offered yet, could also join the 2021 class. But in order of likelihood: It’s David, Grimes and Hairston.
