George Rooks

George Rooks is another name that’s been talked about a lot in connection with Michigan football and he’s another recruit who could be making a decision soon.

Rooks has been very quiet throughout this process and rarely does any type of interview. We do know that he took dead-period visits to Ann Arbor and also to Penn State.

While Syracuse, where his father played, seemed to be the biggest threat to the Wolverines, Penn State has sort of emerged as a darkhorse. While Rooks, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive lineman, who is ranked 196th in the 247 composite, has two crystal balls to U-M, neither is from a Michigan expert.

Holland put in a Futurecast pick for Rooks and there are four expert picks in at Rivals for him to land with the Wolverines. That puts the total at six, but the confidence level at 247 isn’t super high and with no Sam Webb or Steve Lorenz, it makes me hesitant.

But Rooks is also a strong academic kid and one that felt like a recruit that would land either at Michigan or Notre Dame. Certainly, Penn State can’t be discounted, but there is no evidence to suggest U-M isn’t still the favorite.
