The 2025 Michigan football season is still over three months away, but now that spring ball has wrapped up, and the roster picture has become more clear, Vegas oddsmakers have updated their projected win totals for the 2025 season.
Michigan has been a tough team to read. We know the Wolverines will have an elite defense again, although there are some questions about the return of star safety Rod Moore.
Moore missed the entire 2024 season with an injury, and just posted himself running this week. Will he be ready by the start of the season? It seems unlikely, but you never know.
Still, the defense should be loaded. The D-Line and linebackers are deep. I also believe there is still first-round talent on the defensive line.
The big question is the offense. How will Bryce Underwood play as a true freshman? The running game should be solid, but there are concerns about the offensive line. There is also uncertainty surrounding head coach Sherrone Moore, who could be suspended for two games this season.
Factoring all that, FanDuel released updated Big Ten win projections. Michigan football came in fourth with 8.5 as its projected in total. Penn State, Ohio State, and Oregon had projections for 10.5 wins. Indiana was also projected for 8.5.
Then, there are six teams projected for 7.5 wins, including Nebraska, the Week 4 opponent. Sherrone Moore would miss that game under his self-imposed suspension.
Underwood doesn't need to be great right away. The offense just needs to be above average, and if the offensive line can give Underwood enough protection, that should be an easy bar to clear.
