Michigan football is absolutely killing it on the recruiting trail. The Wolverines have tons of momentum, and it seems as though that momentum will only continue to grow. The Wolverines had their Victors Weekend recruiting event this weekend, and by all accounts, it was a massive success.

This morning, Michigan received a commitment from four-star running back Donovan Johnson, out of IMG Academy. Johnson was seen as a potential five-star before tearing his ACL last year. If he can return to form for his senior season, he'll have a chance to rocket back up the rankings.

Michigan received key crystal ball predictions

The Wolverines saw predictions come in for some of their top overall targets. They received predictions for top 100 WR Andrew Marsh and top 100 TE Andrew Olesh. The two have been trending towards Michigan, and at this point it seems likely that the pair could commit to Michigan soon.

Marsh and Olesh are arguably the top offensive prospects left on the board for Michigan football. They both play extremely important positions and are seen as a need for Michigan this cycle. Landing the two of them would be absolutely huge for Michigan.

The Wolverines also received predictions for three star center Kayden Strayhorn and three star linebacker Chase Taylor. Strayhorn, who also plays at IMG Academy, is a Michigan State legacy, so his commitment would feel tremendous. Taylor, a Georgia native, has all the physical attributes you could want from a linebacker at 6'3 200lbs. He's seen as a very high ceiling prospect.

Michigan football will try to officially seal the deal with these four prospects as soon as possible - if they haven't already. I'd expect some announcements over the coming days. Michigan wants to capitalize on this momentum as much as possible, and a string of quick commitments is the perfect way to do so.

Michigan Trending with Other Top Targets

While the Wolverines haven't earned any additional predictions yet, Michigan did a great job with the other prospects on campus. Four star WR Taz Williams, for example, was active on TikTok while in Ann Arbor, showcasing himself having a great time. His recruitment appears to be between Michigan and local school Texas A&M. Williams is expected to announce his decision on July 13th.

Another prospect that Michigan appears to be trending for is top 100 linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, another IMG Academy prospect. Nathaniel is currently viewed as a Notre Dame lean, but there is some hope coming out of Ann Arbor following his visit.

The Wolverines did a fantastic job wowing their visitors, as expected. With the Wolverines slowly making NIL progress, they are finally recruiting on a level close to where they should be. While we'd still like to see more five stars heading to Ann Arbor, this is a huge step up from where they were.

It's very possible, and even likely, that the Wolverines wind up with 5-10 top 100 recruits in this class. For a program who has combined for one top 100 recruit over the past two cycles despite winning the Big Ten both years, that's a huge step up. There is a real chance that this is a top 5-10 recruiting class when it's all said and done. And while that should be the expectation at Michigan, it's great to see that it might finally be happening.
