Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore said that the Wolverines were going to be more aggressive on the recruiting trail and that's proving to be true.

Moore has expanded the recruiting department in a big way. The Wolverines are also being more aggressive with their NIL pitch. Michigan football still probably isn't offering what some other schools are, but U-M has made significant progress all the same.

The Wolverines are also targeting players committed to other programs. That isn't new, but the Wolverines have a flew flip targets on the table. Elijah Melendez, the four-star linebacker committed to Miami said he is "loving" everything about Michigan football. He's expected to visit this month and it feels like U-M has a real chance at a flip.

Michigan has also been pushing to flip South Carolina's commitment and top-100 cornerback Shamari Earls. That's another recruitment where the Wolverines are making headway, but on Wednesday, they extended an offer to another South Carolina pledge. This time three-star safety Damarcus Leach was offered.

What to make of latest Michigan football offer

Leach is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound safety. He's ranked No. 653 overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings for the 2025 class. His 247 Sports profile also reports scheduled visits to South Carolina and Duke.

The defensive back committed to South Carolina in April, but seemed pretty excited about the offer from U-M. Michigan football needs to get him on campus and maybe an official visit is possible for June. That would show the Wolverines are truly serious about a flip.

An offer is one thing but getting a recruit on campus shows that both sides are serious. Michigan is serious about flipping Melendez and Earls. We'll see about Leach but the Wolverines obviously see something worth pursuing.
