Michigan football in good position for a flip, plus latest 5-star on Andrew Babalola
Looking at the current Michigan football roster, one thing is clearly missing on offense and that's big-bodied wide receivers.
Amorion Walker was re-added to the roster via the transfer portal and the 6-foot-3, 180-pounder does add some size and a deep threat. However, how many Wolverines on the current roster at wide receiver could go up and win a jump ball?
There isn't even that big target who can make tough catches across the middle without getting destroyed. I love Semaj Morgan, but he's not a big dude. Neither is Tyler Morris or Fred Moore.
The Wolverines need some bigger wide receivers and North Carolina State commitment Jamar Browder, a 6-foot-4, 204-pound wideout, would fit the mold. Browder is a three-star recruit in the 2025 class and is ranked No. 776 overall.
Out of Lake Worth, Florida, Browder has been committed to North Carolina State since June. However, he visited Michigan football this past weekend and is expected back for an official visit according to what he told Steve Wiltfong of On3.com. As a junior, Browder caught 39 passes for 730 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Wiltfong wrote that Michigan football has a "real shot" to flip Browder who would fit in really well in the 2025 class alongside top-100 wideout Andrew Marsh out of Texas.
Latest on Michigan football and 5-star Andrew Babalola
The Andrew Babalola recruitment is one of those that just continues to drag on. The five-star offensive tackle who is 6-foot-6, 280 pounds and is ranked No. 24 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings was supposed to announce a commitment in September.
It didn't happen and while Babalola said he expects to decide before the end of his high school season, you wonder if this will go until Early National Signing Day. Here's what Michigan football recruiting insider EJ Holland had to say about the Wolverines' chances on Tuesday night.
“I think Stanford has lost some traction in this recruitment,” Holland said. “Right now, I think it’s more likely that he doesn’t end up at Stanford. That doesn’t mean that Michigan is now clearly in the lead. Auburn has made a big push in this recruitment. While NIL wasn’t previously thought to be a factor in this recruitment, that could be changing. Auburn has a lot of momentum on the recruiting trail right now and is willing to do what it takes on the NIL front. Are academics still Babalola’s No. 1 factor? I guess we’ll find out soon.”
Michigan football hosted the five-star offensive tackle for an official visit this summer. The Wolverines are among the top contenders along with Stanford, Auburn, Oklahoma, and Missouri.
