There has been debate among fans at different programs about why top-100 wideout Derek Meadows, who is ranked as a five-star by the 247 Sports specific rankings for the 2025 class, delayed his decision. Michigan football feels like it had something to do with it, while those on the Notre Dame side feel the same way.

Meadows is 6-foot-5, 200 pounds and ranked 68th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings (32nd overall via 247). Meadows visited Michigan football in June and the Wolverines are contenders along with LSU and Notre Dame.

Notre Dame feels like the favorite. The Irish have the only crystal ball prediction ahead of a decision that will take place on Saturday. However, Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider reports that Michigan football continues to be a "thorn" in the side of Notre Dame and LSU in this recruitment.

The Wolverines haven't gone away and while Webb indicated that if he had to make a prediction last week, it would have been for Notre Dame, he said Michigan football is "absolutely" a player in this one.

Michigan football in the mix for trio of top-100 wide receivers

The Wolverines are actually in the mix to land three top-100 wideouts in the 2025 class. Meadows is just one and his decision will be known on Saturday. Andrew Marsh is another. The Texas prospect is expected to visit for the Michigan football recruiting BBQ before a decision that's expected in August.

Jerome Myles, another top-100 wideout out of Utah, decommitted from Ole Miss this summer and will visit for the BBQ too. Utah and Texas A&M are among the teams to watch, but getting Myles on campus for the BBQ is huge and if Michigan can land just one of these top-100 pass catchers, it would be a huge addition to the 2025 class.

But if U-M could add more than one, it could mean big things for the passing game moving forward.
