LSU aiming to flip a recent Michigan football commitment
Rankings are important. But they don't tell the whole story and in the 2025 class, one of my favorite commitments for Michigan football is Phillip Wright, who just happens to be one of the lowest-ranked commitments for the Wolverines as of right now.
Wright has been moving up though. He was ranked outside the top 500 when he committed to Michigan football and is now No. 428 overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Out of Louisiana, it's easy to see why Wright is on the rise. He's run the 100-meter dash in 10.46. Sort of like Jasper Parker, he was underrated in the state of Louisiana, but now, LSU is making him a priority which is a concern for Michigan football.
LSU trying to flip a Michigan football commitment
The Tigers just beat out the Wolverines for Derek Meadows, a top-100 wideout out of Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas. However, the Tigers have missed on some other prospects and Shea Dixon of the LSU On3 site, The Bengal Tiger, reports that LSU is still targeting Wright and could be making headway toward a flip.
According to the report, LSU is trying to Wright on campus for their recruiting event at the end of July. If that happens, a flip is a real concern. Just like with Parker, one of the reasons Michigan was able to get the commitment of Wright, was, at least in part, the disinterest of LSU.
Well, that has officially changed. Wright has become a top target and the Wolverines will have to work to hold onto that commitment until Signing Day. Keep an eye on Wright next weekend though because if he doesn't visit LSU, I'd feel a little better about his commitment.
