Michigan football misses on 5-star wideout, what's next?
Michigan football officially missed out on the commitment of five-star wide receiver Derek Meadows on Saturday as the standout from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas chose LSU over the Wolverines, Notre Dame, and others.
Michigan football fans felt like there was a chance. Some believed that Meadows, who delayed his decision last week, did so because of Michigan or Notre Dame.
LSU was the favorite last week and a delay usually isn't something you want to see if you're the favorite. But The Tigers were able to win out, so in the end, the delay didn't really matter.
What's next for Michigan football wide receiver recruiting?
The good news is that Michigan is in the mix for two other top-100 wideouts in the 2025 class. Andrew Marsh, a four-star out of Texas is one of them. The other is Jerome Myles, a top-100 prospect out of Utah.
Both are expected to visit for the Michigan football recruiting BBQ next weekend. Marsh has been projected to the Wolverines with multiple crystal balls and expert projections for the On3 prediction machine, which also pegs U-M as the heavy favorite.
Predictions aren't commitments though. The Wolverines need to close and Marsh is due to decide in August, Michigan football should have the chance to do that at the BBQ. They have Phillip Wright and Jacob Washington, two talented wideouts from Louisiana.
I believe Michigan would take Myles and Marsh if they could land both, but as long as they get one or the other, the Wolverines can feel good about their wide receiver haul in the 2025 class.
