Another important visitor makes it for Michigan football BBQ
There is no shortage of storylines for Michigan football recruiting this weekend as the Wolverines hosted their annual BBQ on Saturday.
With the dead period opening up before the end of July, the Wolverines have some top targets on campus in the 2025 class as they trying to close out some commitments.
We have talked about Andrew Marsh and Jerome Myles at length. Both are ranked in the top 100 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Marsh has been trending with expert projections and crystal balls in favor of the Wolverines.
In fact, Marsh landed another expert projection for Michigan football this weekend. However, another wide reciever made it for the visit and he's already committed to the Wolverines. That's three-star wide receiver commitment Phillip Wright out of Louisiana.
Another key visitor for Michigan football recruiting
Wright is actually one of the lower-ranked U-M commitments in the 2025 class. He's ranked No. 429 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, but LSU is pushing hard to flip the talented wideout who runs the 100-meter dash in sub 10.6.
The three-star receiver has already seen his composite ranking jump over 100 spots since his commitment to Michigan football on July 13th. Georgia was also a contender in his recruitment, but the Wolverines won out in the end.
However, like we said, in-state LSU is pushing. They didn't prioritize him early but it was reported that Wright would visit LSU this weekend. Well, on Saturday, Steve Lorenz of The Michigan Insider reported that he visited Michigan football.
That's a big deal for the Wolverines. Landing Marsh and/or Myles would be great, but losing Wright would almost cancel that out. Michigan has done a great job of guarding against other flips this cycle and getting Wright on campus this weekend was a positive step in trying to prevent him from flipping his commitment to LSU.
