This past weekend was important for Michigan football and not just because of what was happening on the field. The Wolverines had also some key recruiting targets on campus.

One of those was 2025 cornerback Shamari Earls. Earls is 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, and ranked 65th overall in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

Earls has been a top target for Michigan football but he committed to the Georgia Bulldogs back in July. UGA has been workng hard to keep Earls and it made you wonder if he was going to end up making his visit.

Yet, the elite cornerback did make it to Ann Arbor for the Michigan State game, which was a really good sign for the Wolverines. Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider put in a crystal ball pick for Michigan football to flip Earls even before his visit.

The confidence has only risen among recruiting experts since then. Steve Wiltfong, the top national recruiting expert has projected Earls to flip to Michigan football. So has EJ Holland of The Wolverine.

Earls is likely the best coverage cornerback Michigan football has recruited since Will Johnson, if they are able to get him. Certainly, the Wolverines have been selling a chance to play early.

A commitment from Earls would add to the recruiting momentum built with the addition of five-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola recently to the 2025 class. Earls isn't the only player projected to flip to Michigan football either.

U-M is building some momentum. The win over MSU had to help and hopefully, Earls is the next domino to drop.
