Michigan Wolverines news: Another projected flip, plus more
There has been a lot of buzz about Michigan football recruiting in recent days. Not only did the Michigan Wolverines land their first five-star commitment since the 2022 class this week with offensive tackle Andrew Babalola, but there has also been buzz about a potential flip of five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood.
That would be a home run on the recruiting trail if ever there was one. Underwood would change the trajectory of this program and the quarterback position would look a lot different.
However, Underwood has been committed to LSU since January. Some Michigan football staffers were at his game on Friday night, but he played Bobby Kanka, another Michigan Wolverines commitment, so it's hard to read too much into it, altough I doubt we are.
Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider also projected Michigan football to flip top-100 cornerback Shamari Earls, who is currently committed to Georgia. Earls is expected to visit this weekend. Another recent visit has also been projected to flip to the Michigan Wolverines and that's three-star wideout Jamar Browder.
Browder is committed to North Carolina State, but the Wolverines have been making a push and Steve Lorenz of The Michigan Insider put in the flip projection for the 6-foot-3, 205-pound pass catcher ranked No. 782 overall in the 2025 class out of Lake Worth, Florida.
Michigan football names a stating QB
In case you missed it, Davis Warren will get the nod for the Michigan Wolverines against the Spartans on Saturday. He started the first three games of the season but hasn't played since throwing three interceptions against Arkansas State. Warren threw six interceptions in 2.5 games.
Michigan basketball wins high-scoring exhibition
The Michigan basketball took on Toledo in a final exhibition game before the start of the season and the Wolverines prevailed 96-92.
There were a ton of possessions and it was a fast-paced game. LJ Cason, the freshman point guard, led the way for the Wolverines with 20 points. Roddy Gayle matched that with 20 points. He made 9-of-10 from the free throw line, one three and four total field goals.
Vlad Goldin scored 13 points and the Wolverines made nine triples. Four of those were by Cason, who went a perfect 4-for-4. Sam Walters added 11 points off the bench in 14 minutes. He connected twice from beyond the arc.
The Rockets averaged 1.08 points per possession. They also made eight 3-pointers of their own but a lot of the damage was done in the second half, so it's hard to be overly concerned, even if there is work to do on the defensive end.
