Michigan football's 2027 recruiting class has surged into the top 10 of the 2027 team rankings, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, and the Wolverines' run of commitments isn't anywhere close to over.

Over the past two days, in addition to flipping high-upside tight end Colt Lumpris from Alabama, a four-star who is 6-foot-6, 239 pounds, the Wolverines have also started trending for two other 2027 commitments.

The latest is three-star linebacker Brayden Watson, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound linebacker out of Buford, Georgia. That's a powerhouse program known for churning out big-time talent, so that's never a bad thing.

Watson has only been offered by Mississippi State and Vanderbilt out of the SEC, but Oregon and USC have joined Michigan as Big Ten teams that have offered. Pittsburgh and Boston College are also in the mix. The Panthers might be the most serious contender.

The three-star linebacker, ranked No. 505 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, visited Ann Arbor back in April. He's on the schedule for Victors Weekend to come for an official visit, and it's clear that the Wolverines have seized momentum in this recruitment.

Michigan has done a great job of closing in these situations. Chad Simmons of Rivals and Ethan McDowell of The Wolverine have each projected Watson to be part of Michigan's 2027 class. The Wolverines now have a 99 percent chance to land his commitment via the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Michigan football trending for not just one, but two more commitments

Ifeanyi Emedobi, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound EDGE out of Indiana, was projected to Michigan by five different recruiting experts from Rivals this weekend, both those who cover Michigan and the national reporters.

The Wolverines have a 94 percent chance via the Rivals Prediction Machine to land the four-star EDGE, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Indiana is in second place.

If these predictions come true Michigan will have 17 players committed in the 2027 class, with 13 of them ranked as blue-chip prospects, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

With roster limits and the transfer portal, we probably won't see many other 25-man recruiting classes. It feels like most programs will be in the low 20s.

Kyle Whittingham and Michigan might want to take more, turning over a roster with a new staff, but if these pledges happen, there are probably only 5-7 spots left in what has turned into a very strong class in Whittingham's first cycle as the head coach.
