It didn't take long for Tre Donaldson, the former Michigan basketball point guard, to find a new home as he committed to the Miami Hurricanes shortly after entering the transfer portal.

Some Michigan basketball fans have made posts about the timing but things move quickly in the portal. It doesn't seem at all that the move was pre-planned. If Donaldson had the same role he was going to have last season, he surely would have been back.
But Michigan basketball head coach Dusty May talked about upgrading the playmaking on the roster multiple times this season, and adding Elliot Cadeau to the roster was one way to do it.
Cadeau was one of the best playmakers in the transfer portal, ranking 40th overall, according to 247 Sports. Certainly, there was a path to the two guards playing together. But Donaldson probably wants to run the show and that's just the way college basketball works.
Michigan basketball fans should be thankful for everything Tre did as a Michigan Wolverine. We'll always have the game-winning shot against Maryland, plus the many other clutch performances.
It's unfortunate that it didn't work out but there shouldn't be any hard feelings on either side.
Michigan Wolverines named the most popular college football team
According to The Athletic, based on several different metrics, Michigan football is the most popular team in college football based on several different metrics.
This really isn't a huge surprise. Michigan football always draws huge TV numbers and fans are all over the place. Ohio State has a massive fanbase of its own, but it's not as national as the Michigan Wolverines who have one of the most recognizable brands in all of sports.
Former Michigan football QB Joe Milton traded
Joe Milton, the former Michigan football starting quarterback, was drafted by the Patriots after his stint with Tennessee and he turned some heads during the 2024 preseason.

On Thursday, Milton was traded to the Dallas Cowboys. The Patriots got a fifth-round pick and sent a seventh-rounder to Dallas for Milton, who can learn behind Dak Prescott.
It's a better situation for Milton, who has all the talent in the world, but wasn't going to supplant Drake Maye, a top five pick in the 2024 NFL draft and long-term starter.
Prescott is entrenched as the Cowboys starter but they might be hoping Milton can develop into a starting-level quarterback at some point. I don't know if that will ever happen, but it seems like a worthwhile risk.
