Big Ten officials tried to rob Michigan basketball of a trip to the Big Ten championship game on Sunday but Tre Donaldson was having none of it.
After knocking down a clutch three with just over 30 seconds left, giving the Wolverines a three-point lead, Maryland grabbed it back. They scored, fouled Danny Wolf, who missed the front end of a one-and-one, before Big Ten refs called a ticky-tack foul with five seconds left to put the Terps on the line.
Maryland made the free throws. Then, Tre Donaldson did his best Tyus Edney impression, driving coast-to-coast for a game-winning layup with 0.4 seconds left.
The Terapins last attempt was knocked away and Michigan basketball survived 81-80. Here's a look at the game-winning bucket by Donaldson.

Michigan basketball will play for a trophy
Tre scored 12 points in the win. Five of them came in the last 30 seconds. Vlad Goldin dominated down low, scoring 25 points and grabbing 10 boards. Danny Wolf was also special. There were too many turnovers (4), but Wolf finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and four assists.
Michigan basketball had 16 turnovers. The Wolverines made up for that with 14 offensive boards. As a team, they out-rebounded Maryland 38-16. U-M shot 39 percent from 3-point range. They were 12-of-13 from the free throw line. The only miss was Wolf's with less than 10 seconds left.
Despite it all, Michigan survived. After three straight losses, Michigan has won back-to-back games against ranked teams, which should help the NCAA tournament resume. They will also play Wisconsin for a championship on Sunday at 3:30 PM EST.
What a cherry on top of this season that would be.
