On Wednesday night, Danny Wolf became the 12th first-round pick of the Michigan basketball program after being selected 27th overall by the Brooklyn Nets.
Wolf had to wait longer than expected to get drafted. He was projected to go in the top 20 by three different NBA mocks drafts. Some even thought he might sneak into the lottery.
When Wolf's name was finally called, it was an emotional moment for him and his family. And despite falling, Wolf will secure a guaranteed first-round contract and will head to a team that's rebuilding, meaning there should be plenty of opportunities for playing time.
Michigan is second all-time in the Big Ten conference with 34 first-round picks, which trails only UCLA, which leads the league with 42. Indiana is third with 28.
Also notable about the 2025 NBA draft, and the 2025 NFL draft, Michigan is one of just six schools to have a first-round pick in both, joining Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Penn State.
Michigan football bowl projection for the 2025 season
CBS Sports released its bowl projections for the 2025 season, and Michigan football has been projected to play in the Citrus Bowl.
CBS has Oregon, Penn State, and Ohio State reaching the College Football Playoff. Making the Citrus Bowl wouldn't be a bad season for the Michigan Wolverines. It would probably mean 8-9 wins.
My guess is that in his projection, the Wolverines lose to Ohio State. It feels like, to me, that "The Game" will determine whether or not Michigan makes the College Football Playoff. If the Wolverines can win 8-9 games before that, a win over OSU should get U-M back to the playoff.
More Michigan football recruiting wins
The Michigan Wolverines landed not just one, but two commitments on Wednesday. The first came from four-star wide receiver Zion Robinson, ranked No. 132 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound wideout is a high jump state champion in Texas (6-8). He also runs the 100-meter dash in 10.89 seconds.
Michigan football also landed 6-foot-6, three-star offensive tackle Marky Walbridge out of Massachusetts. The Wolverines have been trending for several 2026 recruits. Sherrone Moore teased out four commitments so far this week, so there is another shoe yet to drop.
