Monday was a busy day for Michigan Wolverines news as the Michigan football program landed a new commitment in the 2027 class, while the basketball program secured an official visit from five-star wing Anthony Thompson.
The 6-foot-7, 185-pound forward from Ohio, is ranked as the No. 8 player in the 2026 recruiting class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

North Carolina: August 22nd
Ohio State: August 29th
Michigan September 5th
Indiana: September 12th
Texas: September 19th
Kentucky: September 24th https://t.co/mpZMrVQOBg
In July, the incredibly talented left-hander, who can score on all three levels of the floor, included the Michigan Wolverines in this top seven. Now, he's scheduled six official visits to North Carolina, Ohio State, Michigan, Indiana, Texas, and Kentucky, in that order.
Purdue is the other finalist. The Boilermakers aren't on the schedule for a visit yet. This will be the second visit of Thompson to Michigan basketball. He was offered in August 2024, then took an official visit in the fall of 2024.
There aren't any crystal ball projections at this time.

We have our answer, as John Garcia of Rivals reported on Monday that the Wolverines are "pushing for" Missouri commitment Jabari Brady, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound wideout ranked 390th overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Brady has an impressive offer sheet that features 15 SEC schools, including Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, and LSU. The Florida prospect has also been offered by Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Miami, Notre Dame, North Carolina, and has 22 offers between the Big Ten and SEC alone.
As a sophomore, he had over 1,385 yards receiving but that total dropped to just under 500 after he transferred and played in just seven games in the 2024 season.
Michigan football adds to 2027 class
We mentioned it in the first paragraph, but Michigan did add to its 2027 class on Monday with the pledge of three-star Tristan Dare, who is ranked No. 496 overall in the 2027 class, via the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Dare is 6-foot-4, 290 pounds. He's expected to play guard for the Wolverines but has played right tackle in high school so you never know. Michigan has two offensive line commitments now in the 2027 class, but next up could be a blue-chip quarterback.
