While not everybody put pen to paper on National Signing Day, the Michigan Wolverines didn't have any commits flip to another program, and that included a five-star prospect that the program wasn't 100 percent certain it had landed.
Five-star running back Savion Hiter committed to the Wolverines in August, but a delayed signing day had Michigan on pins and needles, waiting to make sure he would actually be joining the team next season.
Hiter, who is undeniably one of the crowned jewels in Michigan's class of 2026 recruits, had a lot of attention from a lot of other programs, including the Tennessee Volunteers, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
In the early hours of December 4, one day after National Signing Day, reports finally came out that Hiter had signed his Letter of Intent to Michigan, officially sticking with the Wolverines over their rivals and some of the top SEC programs.
Wolverines sigh collective sigh of relief over Savion Hiter
Throughout his senior year, Hiter amassed 836 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, four of those coming on runs of 100 yards or more. He also had 57 receiving yards and even snagged an interception while playing outside linebacker.
In other words, Hiter is going to be an absolute monster for the Wolverines and should fit in nicely with a backfield that already features stars like quarterback Bryce Underwood and running back Jordan Marshall (assuming Justice Haynes is heading to the NFL).

Beyond Hiter, the only Michigan commits who had yet to sign with the Wolverines by the end of National Signing Day were four-star EDGE Julian Walker and four-star wide receiver Zion Robinson, neither of whom had flipped their commitments by Thursday morning.

Michigan's class of 2026 ranks 11th in the nation and is headlined by elite athletes like Hiter, five-star EDGE Carter Meadows, four-star defensive lineman Titan Davis, and more prospects who did sign their futures over to the Wolverines.
