Michigan football got a big recruiting win over the weekend, as Kyle Whittingham, thanks to the assist from Jim Harding, landed one of the best prospects in the state of Michigan in 2027.

Now the Wolverines are looking for another recruiting win, this time via flip.

The recruit who committed was four-star offensive tackle Jakari Lipsey, who is ranked No. 104 overall, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings for 2027. You can feel Michigan building momentum on the recruiting trail, despite a recent decommitment.

Lipsey was one of three recruits recently projected to land with the Wolverines. Another Michigan is hoping to get trending in that direction with Alabama four-star commitment Colt Lumpris, a tight end in the 2027 class who is 6-foot-6, 240 pounds, and ranked No. 266 overall via the Rivals Industry Rankings. He's also an Alabama commitment.

Lumpris is out of Connecticut. He's got an impressive list of 19 offers. Ohio State is on there, along with Tennessee, Ole Miss, Penn State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Illinois, and schools within the region like Syracuse, UConn, and Boston College.

Lumpris has been to Ann Arbor multiple times. His first visit was last summer under the previous staff. He also visited during March and tight ends coach Freddie Whittingham made an in-person visit to see Lumpris over the weekend.

The Alabama commitment has an official visit scheduled for June 19th. However, Michigan isn't the only team aiming to flip the uber-talented tight end with massive upside. Texas A&M and Penn State will host him for official visits in the weeks before coming to Michigan, along with Alabama, on May 29th.

Michigan feels like a serious contender to pull off a flip, but there is still plenty of work to do.
