Things have been going well for Michigan football on the recruiting trail and it appears that won't stop anytime soon.

Michigan football is expected to land the commitment of top-40 offensive tackle Ty Haywood. The former five-star offensive tackle dropped down to a four-star in the 247 Sports composite rankings but he's still ranked 38th overall in the 2025 class.

After that recruitment goes in the books next week, with national signing day, Michigan football can turn its full attention to the 2026 recruiting class. It already has in many ways. Sherrone Moore and his staff have been all over the country, but Moore in particular has been among the most active coaches in college football on the recruiting trail.

And with one prospect, Michigan's efforts are paying off. Ever since the hire of Tony Alford as Michigan's running backs coach, the Wolverines have been trending up in the recruitment of running back Savion Hiter, the No. 17 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Out of Mineral, Virginia, the 5-foot-11, 182-pounder recently got a visit from Moore and that was just part of the full-court press Michigan football has applied. Rivals is now projecting that Hiter will be a Michigan commitment when it's all said and done.

Until there is a commitment and sometimes even then, it's not over. Ohio State, Georgia, and many other heavy hitters have been in the mix. But few teams want to run the ball as much as Michigan or have run as well.

The prediction came from Rivals.com on instagram so it's not like a Fong Bomb from Steve Wiltfong or a crystal ball, but it's a good sign of where Michigan football stands in this recruitment.

Michigan has logged four visits total with Hiter according to On3 -- either a coach visiting him or the player visiting campus. Ohio State and Georgia each have three. Those programs feel like the biggest threat which means this recruitment is far from over, but if the Wolverines can win it, it'll be another feather in the cap of Sherrone Moore and his coaching staff.
