The most important position in sports is quarterback. That makes it the most important position for college football teams that are recruiting players, which is what would make another blue-chip commitment for Michigan football at quarterback such a big deal.
The Wolverines had some struggles with quarterback recruiting. We saw the results of that last season. Sherrone Moore clearly learned a lesson from that.
Michigan football signed a four-star quarterback, Jadyn Davis, who was ranked in the top 150 overall, then followed it up by landing Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 overall player in the 2025 class via the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Brady Smigiel, another four-star, is committed in the 2026 class, and now, the Wolverines are trending to land Peter Bourque, a big-time quarterback in 2027, who has five-star potential.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound quarterback out of Marion, Massachusetts, is ranked 75th overall (4-star) in the 2027 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He's ranked sixth among quarterbacks
Michigan projected to beat Big Ten rival for key QB commitment
Penn State was trending as the favorite. Yet, Michigan football has been gaining momentum, and the Wolverines were projected to land Bourque by Steve Wiltfong of Rivals, along with some other expert projections.

The crystal ball lead still belongs to Penn State. However, the official Michigan football account on X posted the eyeball emoji for Sherrone Moore, who is "locked in" and not using social media.

Bourque then posted the eyeball emoji on his X account, which tells me a commitment is coming soon, maybe even on Sunday.
In addition to Penn State, Georgia, Florida, and Oregon are some of the other notable offers. Yet, it looks like Michigan will land a top-160 overall quarterback for the fourth consecutive recruiting class.
