In three weeks, Bryce Underwood will be making his debut as the starting quarterback of the Michigan football program.
That was only reinforced after Underwood stood out during a scrimmage on Saturday held by the Wolverines. Teams are allowed nine padded practices before the first game of the season, along with some scrimmages.
It's an important part of training camp, especially when talking about position battles. As far as quarterback, that feels settled. Josh Henschke of Rivals reported that Underwood had a "good day."
Bryce Underwood had a good day, clear depth on defense, and much more as we have the latest intel from Michigan's first big scrimmage of fall camp that took place today.https://t.co/uzSWWo654U

Sherrone Moore has talked about how this is an open competition, but it feels like Underwood has grabbed hold of the job. After Saturday's showing, and the fact that he was getting the No. 1 reps, it's hard to see any of the other contenders taking the job over him.
The depth is much better with Mikey Keene, Jadyn Davis, and Jake Garcia than it was last season. There are some options on the depth chart. However, it's clear as day that Underwood will be the game-one starter for Michigan football.
So far, everything is going to plan.
Depth on defense is impressive
Henschke reported that the offense held its own against the defense, which is important in its own right. While there might not be as many stars on the Michigan football defense, there could be more depth than last season, especially on the defensive line, and at linebacker
The secondary is a bit of an unknown, but at least some young players like Jo'Ziah Edmond are stepping up. Either way, the season will be here before we know it, and Bryce Underwood will be Michigan football's starting quarterback.
