Michigan football is trending up in the 2026 recruiting class, especially after the Wolverines landed two new commitments over the weekend, including from top-100 quarterback Brady Smigiel, who is ranked as a five-star recruit, according to Rivals.
The Wolverines have five commitments now in the 2026 class and as we head toward the summer, when Michigan football typically heats up on the recruiting trail, there could be another commitment looming for the month of July.
Leo Delaney, a four-star offensive lineman from Providence Day in Charlotte, the same school that produced Jadyn Davis, released a final four on Tuesday, which includes Michigan football, along with Tennessee, Penn State, and Clemson, according to 247 Sports.
Michigan football a favorite to land 4-star OL
Delaney will take official visits to all four programs before making his decision. The 6-foot-6, 270-pounder is listed as an interior prospect, but he looks like an offensive tackle. Delaney is ranked No. 133 overall in the 2026 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, and eighth among interior linemen.
Michigan football started trending with expert projections for Delaney a few weeks ago. The Wolverines have one crystal ball projection, along with Tennessee, however, the On3 recruiting prediction machine gives Michigan a 77 percent chance to win the commitment.
Tennessee is probably the top contender at this point, although it's hard to count out Penn State or Clemson, which is very close to home.
The Wolverines have had a ton of success developing offensive lineman though. Another offensive tackle, Myles Hinton, was just drafted in 2025, along with Zak Zinter, Trevor Keegan, and LaDarius Henderson in 2024.
Michigan football is an O-line factory and adding Delaney would give the Wolverines another solid piece for the future up front.
