When it comes to four-star offensive lineman Leo Delaney, Michigan football has a few built-in advantages.
For one, the Providence Day prospect from Charlotte, has two former teammates on the Michigan football roster, Jadyn Davis and Channing Goodwin. The Wolverines have been a familar presence at the school and have made an impression on Delaney.
He was offered first by Biff Poggi but has built a solid relationship with Grant Newsome. Delaney who is listed at 6-foot-6, 280 pounds by 247 Sports, and also ranked No. 132 overall in the 2026 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, was on campus once again this past weekend for an unofficial visit.
And it seems like Michigan football knocked it out of the park. Just before he took the trip to Ann Arbor, Delaney received a crystal ball projection to land with Tennessee. The Vols are one of the other top contenders along with Clemson. Delaney has official visits scheduled for Michigan football, Clemson, and Tennessee this summer.
"Michigan is more than a contender"
Penn State is also in the mix, but it feels like a three-team race. However, Delaney's dad told Ethan McDowell of The Wolverine, "Michigan is more than a contender. "It’s an unusual blend of academics and high-level football that I think is pretty much unmatched”

Delaney also posted how "great" the visit was. The vibes were good enough that McDowell entered in a projection for the Wolverines in the On3 recruiting prediction machine. The RPM now gives the Wolverines an 82-percent chance to win the commitment.
A decision isn't expected soon. It sounds like Delaney will take his visits and then make a decision, but Michigan football is trending in the right direction. Delaney seems to connect really well with the coaching staff and the Wolverines are in a strong spot heading into a crucial stretch in this recruitment.
