Michigan football is picking up momentum on the recruiting trail. The Wolverines landed two commitments this week, and it is hoping to add to that soon.
Matt Ludwig and Mason Bonner were nice additions to the 2026 class, which now has seven commitments. The best part about it is that the Wolverines are starting to close.
We have seen Michigan football build momentum with a ton of highly-ranked recruits in the 2026 class. A bunch of elite recruits are coming to visit in June, so this run of recruiting momentum could just be getting started.
Yet, the Wolverines are expanding their board, and the newest name to add to the Michigan football recruiting board in the 2026 class is Nebraska commitment CJ Bronaugh, who posted on X that he "earned" an offer from Michigan.
Bronaugh, a 6-foot-1, 166-pound cornerback, reported the offer from Michigan Thursday night. The Windermere, Florida, recruit is a state champion in the 100-meter dash, as well as the 200-meter dash.
Bronaugh also had six interceptions last season as a sophomore. So he's got great length, an incredible 40 times and he's got size, too.
Bronaugh is ranked No. 103 overall in the 2026 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. The talented cornerback runs the 10.34 in the 100-meter dash. He's got elite ball skills and if Michgian football could find a way to flip the Nebraska commitment, it would be a huge win.
The Wolverines have company, though. The blue-chip cornerback has official visits scheduled for Penn State, Florida, and Florida State, as well as Nebraska on June 6th.
Offering Bronaugh is one thing. Getting him on campus is the next step. He's been open to other programs and has talked about making a decision after his official visits.
That doesn't sound like someone who is super committed. The Wolverines have sent tons of players to the NFL from the secondary and will have an elite defense again in 2025.
There is plenty to sell to Bronaugh. We'll see where things go next.
